You can certainly use a variety of candles when creating that romantic candle lit bath. We have some fantastic Wood Wick candles that actually crackle like a real wood fire as they burn. We also have some tea light candles for a little different style. Then there's a few pillar candles to complete the look. You don't want to have too many scented candles as the different scents can really get overpowering. That's why we're using unscented tealights here in plastic cases so you don't need a special holder and unscented pillar candles so as not to create too much scent.

By creating the ambiance associated with the candles and the smells, you can put yourself into a further state of relaxation and romance. I recommend trying the combination of lavender scented candles and rose scented candles. If you consider the effects of aromatherapy, then these two scents are perfect. Lavender is said to deliver peace, calm and stability to the person who smells it, and Rose is the flower of love for a reason. The scent is said to aid in love as well as bringing harmony in one's life.

Now you don't have to be overly creative in this endeavor. Simply spread out the candles that you have an a nice array around the tub taking extra care in making sure you don't put burning candles too close to your head and don't place too many scented candles too close together. You want to have one at the foot of the bath and one at the head to give a nice balanced combination of scents.
